Tribeca Rooftop Wedding

How many couples can relate to the following scenario: your fiance’s mom is planning the wedding since you two, as a couple, live in another state; however, the wedding is in NYC. How many of you chose NYC as your wedding destination but didn’t have the time or capacity to plan the wedding, so you left it to your fiance’s mom to plan and design the whole affair? Maybe your family is from here, or perhaps you love the iconic big apple since that’s where you fell in love. Either way, you left it to her mom and the event professionals to plan, design and execute your perfect wedding day. Imagine not seeing one component of your wedding day until the moment you walk into the reception. Scary right? How many of you would give your parents that much control?

This exact scenario happens at least 3-5 times per year at LLG Events, and it’s a challenge we gladly accept. Ben and Bailey live in Washington D.C., and we were hired by Bailey’s mom to plan the wedding of their dreams. Part of my job as a destination wedding planner is to ensure our clients can plan their wedding remotely and in any part of the world. We made sure that Bailey had access to all her mood boards, design decks, proposals from vendors, floor plans, and contracts, and we consolidated everything all in one place. I only got to meet Bailey once in person before the wedding day, and that was the only in-person meeting I got. I had to gain her trust, ensure that the team was on the right track in terms of planning and design. I needed to make sure we nailed the color palette, florals, and ambiance we were trying to create.

We were inspired by vibrant summer colors, which at the time was pretty risky. Most of our clients were sticking with a white, blush, and gold color scheme; however, we noticed in Ben and Bailey’s design quiz that they were less traditional and were willing to allow us to make a bold statement. We ran with this opportunity and created a vibrant color palette including royal blue (heavy on the navy side), we incorporated royal purple and hedge greenery. From the beginning, they wanted a summer vibe and wanted the flowers to feel natural, organic - as if it was a garden on a table. They wanted it to feel like an intimate summer party with florals that were beautiful and yet not in the guest’s face. We wanted to incorporate something reflective, so the color tones would pop and shine and the candlelight would really illuminate, especially during dinner. The grey rustic tables helped mute the vibrancy of the colors, but the royal blue runner was a great complement to the silver mirror chargers.

Tribeca Rooftop is a modern event space, with exposed brick, lots of windows, and an industrial NYC vibe. The view from the rooftop is absolutely incredible and in July we got a hot summer day, showered with sun. We made sure to have Aperol spritz ready, a fresh water station with infused fruits and vegetables like strawberries and cucumbers so guests can easily hydrate. You can imagine how grateful guests were when we passed out cool, lemon-infused towelettes before the ceremony. We adorned the rooftop with hydrangea trees and a floral arch for the ceremony, continuing with the natural, organic garden vibe. Guests were able to enjoy cocktail hour alongside the sunset views over the Hudson River. When Ben and Bailey finally took their first steps into the reception room, they were blown away, and the look on their faces was priceless. I can say with confidence it was a job well done by team LLG. Our planning process allowed us to take our client’s vision, show them only our design decks, and execute their vision to perfection.

Congratulations to Ben and Bailey, we wish you a lifetime of health and happiness!
